CZ P-10 Optics Ready models are characterized by having a slide prepared for the installation of optics. If you wish to equip your CZ P-10S OR with a
red dot, you will need a corresponding adapter – an optic plate – for its installation.
The optic plate is a plate that you insert into the slide cut after removing the cover, secure it, and then mount the appropriate red dot onto it.
Different footprints and mounting patterns
Each firearm has its own specific mounting pattern (shape, size, placement of threads), and at the same time each red dot has its own footprint (screw spacing, recoil lugs, size of the mounting surface, etc.).
To install a red dot, you need to find a plate whose bottom side fits your CZ and whose top side will be compatible with the underside of the chosen red dot. It may sound complicated, but it’s really not that much of a science. Read on.
Compatibility with the firearm
CZ P-10 OR pistols fortunately share the same mounting pattern across all models. In this category you will therefore find plates that you can install on all of the following models:
-
CZ P-10C Ported
-
CZ P-10C OR
-
CZ P-10C OR SR
-
CZ P-10F OR
-
CZ P-10F OR SR
-
CZ P-10S OR
Look for the same plates also in the categories:
Plates for the models within these categories can be freely interchanged.
Compatibility with the red dot
Pairing the plate with the firearm is only half the success. A red dot must fit onto its top side. Red dots use several patterns – so-called footprints. Plates for CZ models support the following red dot footprint patterns:
-
Trijicon RMR footprint [also for Holosun 407C / 507C]
-
Vortex Venom footprint
-
Holosun K-series footprint
-
Shield RMSc footprint
-
C-More RTS footprint
-
Leupold DPP footprint
-
Aimpoint Acro footprint
-
Holosun 509T footprint
What if I don’t have an OR model?
If your firearm is not optics ready, meaning the slide lacks a cut for an optic or for an optics plate, you still have the option to install a red dot without having to modify it at a gunsmith. You only need a different type of adapter.

Cowitness sights on CZ P-10 models
On CZ P-10 OR models, the dovetail cut for the rear sight is positioned further back.
This makes it possible to use both a red dot and standard sights at the same time.
However, be careful — you need sights specifically for CZ P-10 OR models, which are shorter and not adjustable for elevation or windage (such sights would extend beyond the slide due to their greater length).
You will appreciate the dual aiming option when the red dot’s batteries run out, it gets dirty, fogs up, or breaks. Thanks to the standard sights, you can continue shooting smoothly.
Can I install a red dot plate myself?
Yes, you can do it at home; you don’t need any special equipment or great skill.
Procedure:
-
Unscrew the original screws holding the slide cover.
-
Remove the cover.
-
Insert the plate into the slide cut (with the correct orientation).
-
Apply a small drop of blue Loctite to each screw.
-
Tighten the mounting screws.
Once the plate is firmly in place, you can continue with the installation of the red dot.
Note: Remember that the screws supplied with the plate are for securing the plate to the slide. The screws for attaching the red dot to the plate come directly with the red dot.
Why install a red dot on your CZ model at all?
Red dots replace standard sights. They make aiming easier because you don’t have to align the rear sight–front sight–target line; you only look for the illuminated dot. This also requires training, but once you get used to it, you can speed up and improve the precision of your shooting.
It also helps in low-light conditions and for shooters with poorer eyesight.
