Both of these models are popular with shooters looking for compact dimensions while at the same time not wanting to give up the steel frame, which gives the pistol stability. They are among the sought-after service firearms as well as firearms for EDC. You can comfortably handle training at the shooting range with them; they are accurate, reliable, and thanks to their higher weight, you will experience comfortable shooting just like with full size models.
Whatever you have the CZ P-01 or CZ 75 Compact for, you need a holster to carry it. Which one to choose and based on what? We will look at that now.
Compatible models
Holsters are manufactured for each specific model so that the firearm fits well and accurately in them. In this category, you will find holsters for the following CZ models:
-
CZ P-01,
-
CZ P-01 Ω,
-
CZ 75 Compact,
-
CZ 75D Compact,
-
CZ 75D PCR.
Beware of accessories
Only factory versions of the models, or models with a red dot, fit into the holsters in our offer. If you equip the pistol with a flashlight, frame mount, or thumb rest, it changes its geometry so much that it will not fit into a standard holster and you will need a custom-made holster.
Leather classics or modern kydex?
Shooters often choose leather classics for steel compact models because their traditional appearance complements them very well. However, kydex holsters are very practical and almost indestructible. How to decide? Take a look at the advantages and disadvantages of both materials.
Kydex holsters
Advantages:
-
Constant shape: It does not stretch, loosen, or compress. The holster remains open, and you can easily return the pistol to it with one hand.
-
Safety: The firearm is held firmly inside. You can recognize the correct seating by the characteristic "click" that you hear after insertion.
-
Fast draw: Kydex has only minimal resistance and does not stick to the firearm like leather. You only have to overcome resistance in the first moment so that the holster expands at the point where it embraces the trigger guard; after that, it comes out completely smoothly. You will appreciate this in situations where seconds count.
-
Easy maintenance: Or rather, practically zero. It is enough to wipe the holster with a damp cloth.
-
"Indestructibility": The material resists sun, sweat, frost, oil, and most chemicals.
Disadvantages:
-
Inconvenience: You will notice this especially with IWB holsters. The hard plastic can press against you, even though the CZ P-01 and CZ 75 Compact models have smaller dimensions. It also depends on your physique.
-
Wear and tear of the firearm: Abrasion may occur in places where the firearm rubs against the holster (on the trigger guard and on the edges of the slide).
Our tip: Holsters from RH Holsters have a very smooth finish inside, which minimizes this issue.
Leather holsters
Advantages:
-
Comfort: The greatest benefit. Leather is a pleasant and soft material that adapts to the body and the firearm, and it does not press even when you have the firearm on your body all day.
-
Saves the firearm surface: It does not abrade the firearm like plastic.
-
Style: For many people, cold plastic is visually uninteresting and cold. Leather, on the other hand, looks stylish and elegant.
Disadvantages:
-
Maintenance: Leather as a natural material is pliable and adaptable, but it also works and requires proper care – treatment with special leather products so that it does not crack or dry out, or conversely, cleaning if it soaks up sweat.
-
Flexibility: Over time, it may happen that you will need both hands when returning the pistol to the holster, because the leather softens so much that the opening "flattens" after drawing.
-
Requires time: A new holster may be tighter, and it then takes a longer time before it loosens and the firearm can be drawn and inserted easily. After a longer time, there is a risk of stretching and greater play.
Summary
For training at the shooting range, a practical kydex holster is more suitable. For all-day carry, shooters often choose the comfort of a leather holster.
IWB or OWB?
You can carry the pistol on the outside of the waistband (OWB – outside the waistband) or on the inside of the pants (IWB – inside the waistband). Each holster can be worn in only one of these ways, and everyone prefers something different.
For fast drawing and reholstering of the firearm during competition, at the shooting range, or on duty, we recommend OWB holsters instead. For concealed carry, IWB holsters are then maximally discreet.
Choose according to personal preferences
You have familiarized yourself with the most fundamental facts for choosing a suitable holster for your pistol. Your choice, however, does not only depend on facts; it is primarily about comfort. This is also influenced by your relationship with individual materials and carrying styles, how you use the firearm, as well as your physique and which holster is most comfortable for you to carry.
