DPM Recoil springs are among the popular upgrades for full size as well as smaller compact pistols. It is a system of three springs located on a guide rod, which together control the cycle of the firearm during firing. It softens and smoothes its operation. It fully replaces the original factory guide rod.
Why install DPM recoil springs
From the factory, the pistol comes with only one spring. What happens when you replace one spring with three?
-
Protection and extension of service life: The system significantly mitigates the impact of the slide against the frame, thereby saving the material of both parts.
-
Faster follow-up shot and higher rate of fire: The firearm returns to the line of sight faster after firing, allowing you to aim and fire again more quickly.
-
Increases the reliability of the firearm's cycle: Stronger springs eliminate malfunctions during feeding of the cartridge into the chamber and ejection of the shell casing.
-
Significantly reduces recoil: Softening the operation means higher comfort during shooting – the firearm does not "kick." This allows you to better hold the front sight.
Advantage for full size and compact models
For more compact models carried, for example, for self-defense, they provide the stability and comfort of full size models. Smaller pistols behave less "nervously" during faster repeated shots, allowing you to rely on them more.
Sport shooters who use full size models will appreciate the faster cycle of the firearm, higher reliability, and consequently better results.
For every firearm owner, the advantage is the reduction in wear and tear on the slide and frame, as DPM recoil springs dampen the impact better than a standard spring.
Pay attention to the model
Choose recoil springs according to your model; different springs fit each one.
Fine-tuning to your preference
In the packaging, you will usually find multiple springs with different stiffness. Thanks to this, you can find exactly the one that will correspond to your style or, as the case may be, your ammunition.
For an even higher level of tuning, some sets also include spacer tubes, which are threaded onto the guide rod before the spring is installed, thereby increasing the initial spring pressure.
Can I install DPM Recoil springs myself?
Yes, you can manage the replacement yourself at home.
It is not a permanent modification; it requires no alteration to the firearm's structure nor the work of a gunsmith.
Furthermore, you can return to the original spring at any time or exchange it for another one, for example, according to the ammunition.
