Installation
Installation is very simple and can be done by yourself at home, unless you are really not technical type.
You just have to 1. unscrew the factory screws holding the slide cover, 2. remove the cover, 3. place into the slide cut the plate (in the correct orientation), 4. place blue locktite on the screws that come with the plate, and 5. screw in the fixation screws.
Once the plate is firm in its place, you can continue with installation of a red dot to the plate. Bear in mind, the screws that come to you together with the plate are to be used for fixation of the plate to the slide. Screws that hold the red dot to the plate are supposed to come together with the red dot sight.
Sights for CZ Shadow 2 OR & CZ Shadow 2 Compact
Unlike CZ P-10 Optics Ready models, with optics ready models CZ Shadow 2 line you do not have the option to use sights and red dot at the same time. That is because the red dot is instealled on the same place, where otherwise would be optic ready cover with dovetail cut for rear sight.
The benefit of this techcnical solution is, that you will be still able to use sport shooting sights with height & side adjustability. How so? With CZ P10 OR models the dovetail cut is moved further in the back of the slide, which as a result does not allow to mount adjustable sights as they would hang over the slide. Since all of the optics ready models of Shadow 2 (CZ Shadow 2 OR, CZ Shadow 2 Compact and CZ Shadow 2 Orange OR) have the dovetail cut for rear sight in the same position as non-optics ready models, it does allow to use these professional sights although the model is otherwise optics ready.
Also, you will be able to relatively easily switch between classic sights and red dot by removing the red dot plate with red dot, and just getting in the optic ready cover with rear sight in.
You can find CZ Shadow 2 sights here (they are the same for CZ Shadow 2 and CZ Shadow 2 OR), and sights for CZ Shadow 2 Compact here.
The same type of sights as for Shadow 2 also works for CZ Shadow 2 Orange OR, but because of different front sight mounting solution of the "Orange" models, please write us into comment that its for the Shadow 2 Orange model - we will then include the proper front sight for it.
Front sight filler for when red dot is installed
Once you have the red dot installed, you do not really need to have the front sight installed, since there is no rear sight. So instead of a) keeping it there for no reason, or b) removing it and keeping the dovetail cut empty, we recommend to use a front sight filler instead. This front sight filler functions as a replacement of the front sight and keeps the gun in good looks once the red dot is installed in the back of the slide. Installation of the filler is the same as for the front sight.
Mounting a red dot to non-optics ready CZ Shadow 2
In case you own a classic CZ Shadow 2 model (be it older CZ Shadow 2 Orange or classic CZ Shadow 2) without the cut in the slide, you will be still able to install a red dot to your gun. It will just not be solved by optic plate, but by a red dot mount instead. You can get such red dot mounts for classic CZ Shadow 2 models here: CZ Shadow 2 red dot mounts.
Optic plates are designed to work just and only on optics ready models, not on classic models that do not have the optic cut in the slide. If you are not sure which version of CZ Shadow 2 you have, rather email us with photo of it to info@cz-parts.com and we double check and confirm what to get.
