Scope bases & rings

To install a scope to your CZ rifle, you will need to have a set of scope rings.

Those can be made

• as one piece device, or as a two piece device;
• with quick detach mounting or with classic mounting screws;
• with different types of diemeters for the main tube; but foremostly
• they can be made as dovetail scope rings or as picatinny scope rings.

Picatinny base: yes or not

If you want to use scope rings with picatinny base, you need to have a picatinny base installed to your rifle in the first place.

Some rifles have picatinny base on their rifles installed from production, but many do not.

Can you mount picatinny scope rings to your rifle even though it is not equipped with picatinny base? Yes you can. You just need to get a matching scope base. 

In this section you can find picatinny base for many CZ models: CZ 457 picatinny bases, CZ 600 picatinny bases, and many other ones for older CZ rimfires and rifles. 

However, you can install also scope rings without any picatinny base on your CZ rifles and rimfires. How to do so? Through so-called dovetail scope rings. Those get attached directly to the dovetail of the rifle, and thus do not need any picatinny base interface.

What is the difference between picatinny and dovetail scope rings?

Type of attachment

Because dovetail rings get attached directly to the dovetail of rifle, the mounting options almost always consists of screws. 

On the other hand, picatinny scope rings offer many different attachments. That will allow you to easily remove or install the scope rings to any picatinny base.  

Range of options

There is much more options to choose from when selecting picatinny scope rings. 

That means you can select from tactical rings that allow offset red dot on it, or from quick detach rings that allow demounting even in winter gloves, or from many other types. 

These types also come in many variants when it comes to height and scope tube diameter.

So if you are looking for something specifically, you will most probably end up with picatinny rings. Its universal solution, thus many manufacturers make them.

Usability on different rifles

You can get a picatinny base on almost any rifle. That means that if you have a picatinny scope rings, you can easily use them on multiple rifles.

And if you have quick detach picatinny scope rings, you can even transfer the rings with the scope very easily within few seconds.
