Which grips shall you choose for your CZ

Most of the CZ models share the same grip compatibility pattern, with few exceptions.

The main question that you will need to answer to yourself when selecting grips is whether or not these grips shall be used with magwell.

Secondary question is then how large your hand is. The idea is tha to have a firm grip, for large hand you shall be looking for thick grips, and for smaller hand you shall be looking for thin grips.

Short grips are for magwell, long grips without magwell

Unless you have CZ TS 2 model, your CZ pistol is from production not equipped with magwell.

Therefore, if you are looking just and only for replacement of the factory long grips without the intent to also use a magwell, you shall be selecting from the category of long grips.

However, if you are also getting a magwell for your CZ to achieve better shooting results [magwell improves weight distribution and makes the reloading time much faster], together with magwell you will also need short grips. You can find such short grips in this category

Attention: Short grips are not for Compact models

You would not be the first one to make the mistkae so we rather mention it here: for compact models (CZ P-01, CZ 75 Compact or CZ Shadow 2 Compact) you are not supposed to be looking for "short" grips.

If "short" is mentioned in the name of product, it only means that it is designed to work with magwell.

For CZ P-01 and CZ 75 Compact you can find all compatible grips here: standard long grips without magwell & short grips for magwell

And for Shadow 2 Compact you can find the long grips here.

Thickness and design

Once you know whether you will be looking for short grips or long grips, you have to decide on the thickness and design of the grips.

Thickness CZ grips

Depending on the CZ model you have, the factory grips may be thinner or thicker. Whether they were thick or thin, you can always replace them for aftermarket grips which are shaped differently.

Thick grips are designed primarily for guys with large hands. The grips make the pistol grip larger to embrace and thus the grip is more firm.

Thin grips, on the other hand, are designed for guys with less large hands. The idea is the same - thinner grips make the pistol grip smaller to embrace, and thus you can achieve better and more firm grip if your hands are also smaller.

Design

The grips also come in many different types: the surface can be made of very rough material, it can be made in ergonomical shape and also in sorts of color variations.

All these characteristics are to be chosen by you, its rather personal preference of each customer and what they are already used for.

Weight of grips

Another aspect to consider is weight of grips.

Polymer grips are the lightest, aluminium grips are somewhere in the middle when it comes to weight, and brass grips are by far the heaviest.

If you intend to use your CZ for self defense and EDC, we recommend going for rather lighter grips (polymer or aluminium).

For competition shooting on the other hand, the brass grips will make the gun heavier and more easy to control.
