The only way how to intall scope to a CZ rifle without picatinny base
There are two ways how to install scope rings on any CZ rifle:
either by scope rings for dovetail base,
or by scope rings for picatinny base.
If you have a rifle from factory equipped with a picatinny base, your only option is to get a scope base with picatinny base.
However, if your rifle does not have from factory picatinny base, it is up to you to decide which solution you will use.
Main difference in dovetail scope rings
The main difference is the type of attachment.
Dovetail scope rings are attached directly to the dovetail base of the rifle. You do not need to get any extra picatinny base [picatinny rail], the mounting goes directly to the dovetail.
So the positive is absence of picatinny base [picatinny rail] as mounting adapter between dovetail and the rings. That will also remove some extra weight on the rifle.
The negative is that the scope rings that have dovetail mounting are not as practical for installation and deinstallation from the rifle.
While rings for picatinny base allow many different types of mounting, including quick detach levers, the dovetail scope rings only allow you to install it with classic screws. That means that if you want to remove the rings from your rifle, you will always need some tools to do so.
Why choose dovetail rings
One reason for dovetail rings may be simplicity. You do not have to get additional picatinny base as a mounting interface.
Another reason may be that you do not plan to use the same rings on another rifle - you simply plan to buy them for your rifle once, and keep them installed there for good.
Given that dovetail scope rings for CZ 457 rifle has the same profile as older CZ rimfires, buying a set of scope rings may as well be the only option for you if you have an older CZ rimfire. Because picatinny bases differ for each model (because of ejection window) while dovetail platform remains the same for the whole time.
