Models CZ TS 2 and CZ Tactical Sports are primarily tuned for sporting and competition purposes. Heavy and robust pistols are not very suitable for all‑day carry.
Some of the models come from the factory already equipped with a magwell. Those that do not have a base pad compatible with a magwell. Therefore, installing a magwell will not be the main reason why you are looking for a new one.
However, you may very well need to adjust the magazine capacity or optimize the weight distribution. A new base pad can help with that, and we will gradually get to the reasons why.
The base pad is the part of the magazine located on its bottom side. It is usually made of plastic or metal (brass, aluminum, steel).
Compatibility with the firearm
Compatibility with your model functions as the first decision point for further selection. In this category you will find base pads for the following CZ models:
-
CZ TS 2,
-
CZ TS 2 Deep Bronze,
-
CZ TS 2 Racing Green,
-
CZ TS 2 Orange,
-
CZ TS Orange,
-
CZ TS Czechmate,
-
CZ 75 Tactical Sports
Base pads for CZ models can be divided into 3 main groups:
-
CZ 75‑type pads – for models CZ P01, CZ Shadow 2, CZ SP01, CZ 75, CZ 75 Compact
-
CZ TS‑type pads – for models CZ TS 2 (CZ TS 2 Orange, CZ TS 2 Racing Green & others) and models CZ Tactical Sports (CZ 75 Tactical Sports, CZ TS Orange, CZ TS Czechmate)
-
Pads for polymer models – for models CZ P10 (except CZ P10M, which has a thinner magazine), CZ P07 and CZ P09
You are now interested in the CZ TS type. The base pads within this group do not all look the same, but they are compatible with each other.
Note: The compatibility of base pads practically matches the
compatibility of magazines. Therefore, if a certain type of magazine fits various CZ models, the base pads will be similarly compatible.
Why replace the base pad on your CZ and which one to choose
By replacing the base pad, you can better adapt your firearm to the purpose for which you use it. Now we will go over what can be achieved with such a change and how to choose the one that suits you best.
Faster magazine release
For the magazine to drop out as quickly as possible after pressing the release, its higher weight helps. A few extra grams are added by a metal base pad made of brass or by a magazine with higher capacity. The increased weight also contributes to better stability during shooting.
Increased durability
Metal base pads better absorb impact when dropped and protect the magazine body from damage.
Capacity increase
Some base pads serve to increase the magazine capacity. The number of additional rounds is indicated by the +xrnd in the product description. Capacity can be increased by up to 8 rounds.
Note: In some countries, magazine capacity is limited by legislation. In such cases, the magazine will likely be “pinned”/restricted. It is limited from the top and its capacity cannot be increased. However, the magazine will appear visually longer.
Better grip during reloads
A magazine that fits the hand better is easier to handle. Manufacturers of aftermarket base pads take this into account and design them to improve the ergonomics of the entire magazine. Some base pads are specially shaped to improve ergonomics during reloading.
Magwell installation
As we mentioned in the introduction, some CZ TS and CZ TS 2 models come from the factory equipped with a magwell, and even if they do not, the base pad fits it without any problem.
However, this does not mean that you cannot replace the magwell or other accessories. You may choose a material, surface finish or color that you find more pleasant, or you may wish to increase the capacity. Everything is possible — you just need to choose from the wide selection of original and aftermarket accessories.
All base pads in our offer can be used regardless of whether you decide to keep the magwell on your CZ TS 2 model or not.
Aesthetics
The base pad is visible at first glance, and therefore you can use it to complement the appearance of your firearm and tailor it to your liking. Aluminum ones are produced in many color variants that satisfy even the highest demands of users.
Material
In our selection you will mostly find aluminum base pads, which are the most popular among our customers. Aluminum combines sufficient durability, reasonable weight, and affordability.
Some shooters prefer brass. They are driven by its higher weight and the related advantages of faster magazine drop‑out, better weight distribution during shooting, and greater material durability.
Can I replace the base pad myself?
Yes, you can replace it yourself without the help of a professional.
There are multiple types of attachment, so the procedures differ slightly. A visual guide can be found on our CZ Parts YouTube channel.
Remember:
-
Always check that the chamber is empty.
-
When removing the base pad, proceed carefully so that the spring and follower do not pop out.
