If you bought a non-optics ready CZ Shadow 2 and would like to install a red dot to it, we have a solution: CZ Shadow 2 red dot mount.
What is red dot mount?
Red dot mount is a metal device that allows you to use a red dot on your CZ pistol without having your slide cut for it.
It works as a replacement of a rear sight in the dovetail cut. Therefore, if you decide to install a red dot mount, you will not be able to have rear sight installed at the same time [except of for side mounts as per described later below]
How to install it
Installation of red dot mount is very similar to installation of rear sight.
-
First of all you need to unscrew the fixation screws of your current rear sight and push the rear sight out
-
Then you will have to clean the dovetail cut and ideally also lubricate the touching surfaces.
-
After that you will push the red dot mount into the rear sight dovetail cut and fixate it with the fixatoin screws [if the type of mount has such]
-
Once the mount is firm in its place, you can install a red dot to it.
Unless you have professional rear sight pusher, or have good experience with replacing rear sights already, we strongly recommend to visit a gunsmith for this operation.
Red dot footprint compatibility
As with optic plates for optics ready CZs, also red dot mounts require to keep in mind compatibility among red dot footprints.
The most popular footprint is Trijicon RMR, followed by Shield RMSc and Vortex Venom footprints. Before you go out to get any red dot mount, you need to check what footprint your red dot sight has. If you buy incorrect red dot mount, your red dot will not be compatible and you will not be able to install it. If you are not sure whether or not your red dot will work with some of the red dots on our website, just leave us an email at info@cz-parts.com, we will check for you and confirm.
Materials of red dot mounts
All the red dot mounts are made either of aluminium or steel.
For aluminium mounts you need to be extra careful not to use more torque than what is recommended. And although steel mounts feel more solid, we never had any issues with aluminium mounts except of cases when someone used too much torque for screw tightening.
For the aluminium mounts also work the better weight: aluminium mounts is simply lighter than steel mounts.
