How to mount a red dot on a standard CZ model without an optics-ready modification?
In many sport shooting disciplines, a red dot is no longer an advantage but a standard. But what if you don’t have an optics-ready CZ model? In that case, you need something that allows you to mount it on the slide. You basically have two options:

Have a cut milled by a professional into the slide or frame (you will lose the firearm warranty and this modification is irreversible.)

Install a red dot using a mount that replaces the rear sight in the slide dovetail. These are exactly what we focus on in this category.
How to choose the correct mount for a red dot
Red dot mounts are intended exclusively for standard CZ firearms without an optics-ready modification. On pistols with an OR modification, you need an
optic plate instead.
Compatibility with the CZ model
No matter which way you plan to install a red dot, when choosing a mount you should first focus on making sure it fits your firearm.
Individual CZ models differ in slide shape, the type and dimensions of the dovetail, or the screw spacing, and mounts correspond to these differences. With us, you can choose from mounts for the following CZ models:
Compatibility with the red dot
Once you are clear about the firearm category, you move on to compatibility with the selected red dot. These in turn have different footprints defined by specific screw spacing, recoil lugs, mounting surface size, etc.
Fortunately, there are several most common footprint types that are used by a larger number of red dots:

Different types of mounts
Mounts can also be divided in terms of universality, or according to the way they are installed on the firearm.
Dovetail mounts
You will most often encounter this method of red dot attachment on standard CZ models without an OR modification. The mount simply replaces the rear sight on the slide. By doing so, you lose the ability to use standard iron sights until you replace the red dot with the rear sight again.
TIP: At that point, the front sight also becomes unnecessary. To prevent it from being distracting, cover it with a
front sight filler.
Side mounts
A red dot can also be attached to a mount fixed into a side cut directly in the firearm frame. From the factory, such a cut can be found on the CZ TS 2 Orange, CZ TS 2 Deep Bronze, and CZ TS 2 Racing Green models. Among older models, it is also present on the
CZ TS Czechmate and CZ TS Orange. For other models, it would have to be milled by a gunsmith.
Classification by compatibility with red dots
Universal mounts
You can also choose a universal mount that allows you to attach red dots with different footprints.
However, be careful, if you later decide on a red dot with a smaller mounting surface, the universal mount may be unnecessarily large.
Mounts for a specific red dot
If you already have a red dot purchased and a mount with that specific footprint exists for it, we recommend choosing a mount specifically for it rather than a universal mount. Even then, you still have the option to choose from other red dots with the same footprint.
Does it depend on the material the mount is made of?
Yes, you will notice it especially in its weight. Mounts are made of steel or aluminum. Steel ones add more grams.
We have excellent personal experience with aluminum mounts and also positive feedback from customers. The only thing to watch out for with aluminum is not to use a higher tightening torque during installation than specified in the instructions. Aluminum, as a softer material, tends to deform, and aiming might not work as it should.
Can I install a red dot mount myself at home?
Yes, if you already have experience installing a rear sight, or if these technical tasks are not a problem for you, you can replace it with a mount.
Procedure:

First, unscrew the set screw(s) of your current rear sight and push the sight out.

Then clean the dovetail and ideally also lubricate the contact surfaces.

Next, press the red dot mount into the rear sight dovetail and secure it with the set screws (if the mount type has them).

Once the mount is firmly in place, you can install the red dot on it.
If you do not have sufficient experience, do not hesitate to entrust the replacement to a gunsmith.
Do I need a mount for an Optics Ready CZ model?
No, if you have an OR model, you already have a prepared cut in the slide for mounting an optic. In that case, to install a red dot it is sufficient to secure an
optic plate compatible with your model and red dot.
