CZ Scorpion: you can adapt a military special even for sport shooting
The semi-automatic carbine CZ Scorpion EVO 3 (and the newer variant 3+) originally served the armed forces. This reliable, robust, and accurate carbine has also become popular among hobby and sport shooters.
As a military special, the weapon has its specifics that often do not suit recreational and sport shooters – for example, a stiff trigger and specific ergonomics with a steep stock.
Fortunately, given its popularity, there is a wide range of accessories and spare parts that help tune out the flaws of the service weapon and turn it into an excellent and accurate sport weapon.
Tune your Scorpion EVO exactly to your liking

Trigger and recoil tuning
The trigger mechanism is quite stiff from the factory. For precise sport shooting, shooters therefore often change the trigger spring for a lighter one with a resistance of 4.5 lb or 5.5 lb. The installation is a bit more complicated, but according to our video guide, you can manage it yourself at home.
To eliminate muzzle rise, choose a quality compensator. A faux suppressor, on the other hand, safely vents hot gases after a shot and also makes the weapon look very attractive.
The play between the frame and the receiver, which causes clicking during shooting, can be elegantly removed by installing a receiver shim.
Sport shooters, especially if they use a silencer or stronger ammunition, get a stronger recoil spring, which saves the frame of the weapon, and the action of the weapon is clearer and more controllable. You can find the installation video guide on our Youtube channel CZ Parts.
Optic mounts
Most sport shooters use a red dot instead of classic sights. Although you get a mount for a picatinny rail in the package for its installation, it is often too high above the barrel and aiming thus becomes unnatural. In the category Optic mounts for CZ Scorpion, you will find low-profile mounts for red dots made of light and durable materials and optic plates designed for the most used sport red dots on the market (C-More, Trijicon RMR/SRO, Vortex, Leupold).
Ergonomics and controls
The right side of the ambidextrous safety lever is uncomfortable on the factory version of the CZ Scorpion during longer shooting because it sticks out directly above the knuckle of the index finger, which it rubs with every recoil.
You can solve this either with a safety delete, which replaces the right side of the safety lever while allowing visual control of its position, or with a set of more ergonomic safety levers. These are shorter and differently shaped, so they do not interfere with the space of the shooter's hand.
A frequently changed component is also charging handles. The original small plastic levers can be replaced with extended or folding ones, which allow for more comfortable and intuitive charging and control of the weapon without rubbing fingers against the picatinny rail. Their installation takes just a moment and is definitely worth it.
The factory angle of the pistol grip on the Scorpion EVO 3 is quite slanted and uncomfortable for sport shooting because it forces you to hold your hand very close to the body. A solution is offered by grips with a more vertical angle. You can find them in the category Grips for CZ Scorpion, as well as adapters for AR-15 grips, improved handguards, or a mag release for more comfortable magazine release (the guide for its installation can be found here).
Reloading and capacity
Reloading will be made easier by installing a magwell, which widens the well entrance of the magazine. By installing a mag pad with a larger capacity, you will increase the capacity of the magazine.
The adjustment range of the factory stock is limited. Choose a collapsible stock with adjustable length or get an AR-15 adapter, thanks to which you can mount any stock from this platform onto the CZ Scorpion.
Factory stocks count on aiming with standard sights, so they are relatively low and uncomfortable for aiming with a red dot. For that reason as well, shooters change them.
